Overview of position
The LGA Facilitator is responsible for coordinating and supervising nutrition activities at the LGA level, ensuring quality implementation and data reporting across client-supported sites. They also supervise Ward Nutrition Supervisors, focusing on data reporting and ensuring timely adaptation to changing humanitarian situations. The LGA Facilitator’s presence in the field provides program monitoring, maintaining quality implementation according to national and international protocols, and providing an independent layer of accountability. This role is crucial in addressing increasing insecurity and limited travel to implementation sites by client staff.
Role objectives:
1. Coordinate and supervise nutrition activities, including:
– Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM)
– Maternal Infant & Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) counseling
– Micronutrient Powder (MNP) distribution
– Maternal, Newborn & Child Week (MNCHW) programs
2. Provide weekly updates on the humanitarian situation and relevant changes, such as:
– Influx of new Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)
– Disruption to services
3. Ensure adherence to national guidelines for nutrition services at the community and facility levels.
4. Maintain an adequate stock of key nutrition commodities, such as:
– Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF)
– Micronutrient Powder (MNP)
5. Monitor the distribution and utilization of nutrition commodities and report suspected misuse to the supervisor.
6. Participate in meetings at the Local Government Area (LGA) and state level as required.
7. Supervise the Ward Nutrition Supervisors and provide regular updates on the functioning of community structures. This includes:
– Compiling and validating data from nutrition implementing sites
8. Ensure proper supply chain management at the LGA and health facility levels, including:
– Timely requisition of nutrition supplies
– Storage in conducive conditions
– Reporting inappropriate storage conditions or supply mismanagement to the supervisor
9. Coordinate the activities of Community Nutrition Mobilizers.
10. Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor that align with the general job description.
