Huawei P30 Pro: Update to Android 10 will be distributed
Owners of a “Huawei P30 and P30 Pro” can look forward to an update to the latest version of Android.
Huawei P30 (Pro): Update to Android 10 begins
After completing beta tests, Huawei has now started distributing Android 10 and EMUI 10.1 for the P30 and “P30 Pro”.
As usual, the rollout will initially take place in the home country of China, before the update will also be distributed in other countries.
The Chinese version of the cell phone from 2019 will start accordingly, but owners of the global variant will have to be patient, according to Huawei Central.
Huawei’s P30 and the Pro variant came to the market in March 2019 with Android 9.0.
The new version “Huawei P30 Pro” New Edition, which basically only offers a new colour, is equipped with Android 10 and EMUI 10.1 right from the start.
The biggest innovations in EMUI 10.1 include some apps from Huawei, such as meantime.
This is basically the Huawei version of FaceTime, i.e. video telephony with a few advanced functions.
Also new is Huawei Share, which allows large files to be sent to other users, just like Apple AirDrop. The recipient does not necessarily have to have a Huawei cell phone.
Huawei P30 (Pro): update despite US embargo
Huawei can continue to provide the P30 and P30 Pro with Android updates, although the company is subject to a US embargo.
The reason for this is quickly found: the cell phones came onto the market before the embargo came into force.
Existing smartphones may continue to receive software updates with Google services. Access to the Play Store is still possible with the P30 (Pro).
The situation is different for mobile phones that have been on the market since May 2019.
Important Google apps and services are missing here because American companies have been banned from doing business with Huawei.
This also applies to the “Huawei P40 (Pro)”, which was released in April 2020.
